If there is one organ in the human body that I am passionate about, it is the gut.
It’s no coincidence that this became the subject of my thesis. During my PhD, I could spend hours and hours observing it under the confocal microscope. Those villi and mysterious cells fascinated me…

After nearly five years between my Master's and PhD, I can say that I have learned a great deal about this remarkable organ.
My thesis work led to the publication of two articles:

  • The first article focuses on sugar absorption in the intestine in the context of obesity and diabetes:

 Diabetes. 2011 Oct;60(10):2598-607. doi: 10.2337/db10-1740. Epub 2011 Aug 18.

  • The second article focuses on the intestinal immune system of the small intestine in the context of obesity and diabetes.
This study was supervised by Dr. Edith Brot-Laroche and carried out in collaboration with the team of Prof. Karine Clément (INSERM).
